
As part of the scientific and educational cooperation between the Tajik National University (TNU) and foreign higher education institutions, two experienced specialists from the Russian Federation — Dmitry Nikolaevich Astakhov and Igor Ivanovich Kuleshov — visited the university.
Dmitry N. Astakhov is a surgical oncologist at the Department of Oncological Surgery of the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center for High Medical Technologies named after A.I. Burnazyan. He is also a professor in the Department of Oncology and Radiation Medicine at the Institute for Advanced Training of Medical Professionals within the same center.
Igor Ivanovich Kuleshov is the Deputy Chairman of the International Union of Public Associations “International Union of Veterans of Energy and the Nuclear Industry.”
The guests held a productive meeting with the faculty and students of the university’s medical department, during which they discussed the application of advanced nuclear medical technologies and the practical aspects of nuclear safety.
Dmitry Nikolaevich Astakhov delivered a lecture for the faculty and students of the medical department titled “Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Medicine, and Oncology.” During the lecture, he presented the capabilities of radiotherapy in diagnosing and treating cancerous diseases.
The meeting also included discussions on promising areas of collaboration within joint scientific projects and efforts to improve the professional qualifications of the TNU teaching staff.
