History of the department
The Department of “Surgery No. 1” was organized on the basis ofthe decision of the Academic Council of the National University on August 28, 2022. The acting head of the department is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Polvonov ShukrulloBoboevich.
Preface
In 2022-2023, the department works according to the curriculum, and carries out scientific research work of the department according to the plan. During the reporting period, employees of the Department of Surgery No. 1 actively participated in the implementation and implementation of the instructions and recommendations of the administration and rector’s office. To improve the quality of teaching, teachers have carried out the following work: presence in each other’s classes, as well as participation in lectures and practical classes by teachers with extensive teaching experience. Teachers in the classroom use new interactive teaching methods. Working with patients, interviewing, collecting anamnesis at the patient’s bedside, describing the medical history, the ability to compose a dialogue with patients. Working with students, attracting students to participate in conferences, preparing presentations and interpreting slides. Preparation of a thesis, the ability to draw up logical conclusions, short and meaningful. Use of modern technology (electronic board,) in seminar classes.
Location of the department
The Department of Surgery No. 1 is located at the base of the Istiklol Medical Center in Dushanbe.
The surgical department is located on the 1st and 2nd floor of the 5th building. The department has 60 beds for the hospitalization of surgical patients. The department treats patients with pathologies of the liver, pancreas, esophagus, pathologies of the small and large intestines, hernias, appendicitis, thoracic surgery, pathologies of the thyroid gland, oncological whitening, and coloproctology. The departments also carry out both emergency and planned surgical interventions.
The medical complex uses modern technologies in the form of MRI, CT, Endovideosurgical stand (Karl Storz), video laparoscope, video esophagogastrofibroscope PENTAXSMC -V9, colonoscope, sigmoidoscope, choledochoscope spirograph, dopplerograph, 3-D ultrasound, pH meter, etc. To provide training 8 study rooms are allocated to students.
Educational activities
Currently, the Department of Surgery No. 1 teaches 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th year students of the Faculty of Medicine in the specialties “General Medicine” and “Medical Diagnostics” “Dentistry”. Teaching is carried out according to the credit system of education. To conduct classes, Russian and the Tajik state language are used. The department conducts lectures and practical classes in the following subjects: “General Surgery”, “Surgical Disease”, “Pediatric Surgery”, “Traumatology and Orthopedics”, “Endosurgery”, “Combined Surgery”

Student scientific circle
At the Department of Surgery No. 1, the scientific club “Young Surgeons” was organized and operates to this day.
The scientific club operates under the leadership of the assistant of the department, candidate of medical sciences, Kodirov A.Z. Once a week, members of the circle gather and discuss various topics and propose topics for discussion for the April conference. During the reporting period, students actively participated in the work of the circle. It should be noted that 10 students participated in various scientific and public events, thereby increasing their knowledge and skills in conducting research.
Educational work
The teachers of the department also contribute their vocabulary to the education of students. Among the teachers of the department there are course curators. Every two months, according to the work plan, curators report on the results of their curatorial activities at department meetings.
